The 26 unit Sheridan Hills Motel opened in the spring of 1954 at a cost of about $225.000.00 and owned by brothers Virgil and Fred Hurley and their wives. They sold it about 18 months later for about $200.000.00 according to a new article from the time. The new owner added a heated swimming pool in the courtyard and planned to add 17 guest rooms. Neece sold the property to Mr. & Mrs. Bob Willard in July of 1957 for a reported $250,000.00. The Willards planned to add several more units. By February of 1958 the place was reportedly owned by a Mr. Banfield. By 1970 it was owned by Kyra, Inc. who also owned the Saratoga Motor Hotel and the Valley Motel, both in Tulsa.

Later it would get a now long gone heated swimming pool fenced with colored glass. It is now the Super 11 Inn. The pool was originally hidden behind a 6 or 7 foot tall colored glass fence in the late 1950s, but by the early 1960s the fence had been cut down to maybe 3 feet tall.

The motel is located on 11th St. (Route 66) between Norwood & Oxford Avenues on the south side. The pool was in the center of the courtyard surrounded by a "U" shaped driveway and building.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
