The stone Village Motel had 7 two unit builds plus a a separate owners office/residence building. Each guest unit had an attached carport on the side. The owners unit was a large building and had an attached garage. One of the guest unit buildings is gone.

There used to be a tall freestanding sign near the driveway corner by the building on the left. It was a tall sign that read Village (vertically) and Motel below that (horizontally). An early postcard simply lists the name, location and AAA.

The Shamrock Texan newspaper May 18, 1944 edition mentions a Sunset Tourist Court at 206 E. 12th, which I believe was an earlier name for this motel.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
