This Interpretive Plaza was finished in 2012 and has five plaques, telling
Route 66's history in Tulsa. One plaque shows the two alighnments and
points of interest of Route 66. One describes the two alignments, 1926-32
and 1932-1973. Another tells about the Avery Tourist Camp and one tells
the history of Route 66 motor courts. The last plaque is about the Whittier
Square District.
This
is what you see when you enter the plaza area. It's a block south of
11th Street.

Did
You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
