The Oasis Motel was built in 1953 and the current sign dates back to about 1960. There was an "L" shaped swimming pool between the parking drive and the street. It is located on the north side of 11th St (Route 66). Check out the Route 66 mural on the end of the building.

I talked to the owner a bit when we stopped by in 2016 and snapped these photos. He told me that the very cool Googie style sign could use a little restoration. It's still a very cool sign and deserving of that restoration.

One of the building has a flat roof. This would have been a very modern style of architecture when the motel was built in the early 1950s. The office that sticks out into the parkong area is a later addition, maybe the early 1990s.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
