The closed Brookshire Motel is located on 11 St (Route 66) just west of Garnett Rd on the north side. It consisted of a clapboard duplex cottage with connecting open-entry garages and another cottage style building with two units. The older part of the motel was probably built in the 1930s. The motel consists of 14 units of which 10 units are later additions along with a two-story office building.

A fire in early 2019 damaged the main building.

The office occupies a larger tudor style building but is hidden behind a block fence along with the rest of the property. In early 2019 a fire in the main (office) building caused considerable damage. Hopefully not enough to keep it from being restored.

The neon tubing is missing from the vintage sign in this photo, but it's still a cool old sign.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
