The Whitehurst Building at 102-104 E. Main Street was built in 1907 by
Hohenshelt & Strop Contractors. This two-story brick building features
a distinctive dome at the corner of Main and 4th.. Some significant alterations
have been made to the first floor exterior over the years.
This picture was taken on Main Street looking East (to the left in
this photo) from 4th Street. All these buildings were listed on the
National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
