First National Bank Building

This building was originally the 1929 First National Bank Building. In 2018 it was the Bank of Western Oklahoma. It is located at the intersection of Broadway & Main St. Caddie -corner from the Canadian River Historical Museum, shown below.

OK, when it comes to creative repurposing of old buildings this is a really cool example. The bank on the corner has gutted a storefront one door to the west and turned it into a drive thru banking facility.

Even the old pressed steel ceiling is still in place in the drive thru.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
