C. M. Brake built this building to house his furniture store in 1910 and
operated it until he passed away in 1959. When we went by in 2019 a sign
for the "Geary Star" was above the papered over windows on the
east part of the building. The Star is a weekly paper that began publishing
in 1930. The sign above the windows on the west half of the facade was
for the Country Cousins which appeared to have closed. The two businesses
apparently shared the main entry door.
