The Relax Inn occupies the Home on the Range Motel. Relax Inn on south
10th St. The twenty unit motel 20-unit opened in 1953. The original owners
was Claude Gamble who sold the motel to Mr. and Mrs. John Cochran in 1955.
This was the Hillttop Motel in the mid-80s. The Marshall Cafe was located
in front of the motel. 10th St. was Route 66 from 1926 - 1958.
The
long stretch of guest rooms is largely tucked away on a small hill behind
some commercial buildings on 10th street.
But
the sign is easy enough to spot!

Did
You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
