This little building was a gas station at 325 W. Gary Blvd at the intersection
with 4th Ave (Hwy 183) where one alignment of Route 66 turns south. I've
seen this referred to as both an Eason Oil Company station and as a Champlin
station. It's tacked onto the side of a former auto dealership and marks
on the dealership building make it look like there may have been a service
bay behind the station at one time.
The main structure in this photo was the Williamson Chrysler-Plymouth
dealership building at 315 W. Gary Blvd. Having a gas station and car
dealership located together like this seems to have been a fairly common
practice years ago.

About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
