On the southeast corner of the intersection of Route 66 and Farm Rd 45
is the former Tydol gas station, garage and store that was operated by
Ray Hilton. The building dates to before the 1930s. At one time there
may have been tourist cabins behind the station. A man named Calvin Hawley
was convicted of a New Years Day 1931 robbery of the station, a case that
made it all the way to the Missouri Supreme Court. This is now a private
home.
