C. O. Harrington constructed this modest building for the U.S. Post Office
which agreed to stay in this location for at least five years. In 1899
he built the adjoining building. The Post office is directly across the
street from the Carthage

road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
