The first reference to a gas station at this address that I've found is in the July 1941 phonebook where the station is listed as Andy's Texaco Super Service Station with the slogan, "Let Andy Do It" In the August 1942 book it is listed as Van's Texaco Super Service Station. It was Bert Hawkin's Texaco in 1947. By 1966 it was Allen's Texaco.

From the 1970s to 2000 the building housed an automotive upholstery shop, They added the gable roof above the original flat roof sometime in the 1970s. A new owner bought the building in 2000.

This station is directly across the road from LaPosada and the Highway Diner. The 2012 Route 66 In Arizona Historic Resource Survey lists dates for the building as "Post 1940" and 1958.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
