The Brown Mug Cafe has been standing just across the street from the La Posada Hotel since the 1930s. In the 1950s it served a Chinese and American food menu, more recently it features an Mexican and American food menu.

The cafe survived a serious fire n 1938. It also served as the Santa Fe Trail System bus depot in the 1930s. In 1934 you could catch a bust to Los Angeles here for $11.70 or to Chicago for $25.85, you can hardly buy a tank of gas for your car for that kind of money today.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
