Except for the newer cars in the lot, this photo looks like a postcard from the past. This is one of several mid-century modern motels in Seligman. Hosea Lanier built the Supai and operated it until he retired in 1958. The motel has gone trough several owners since then.

x Like many motels of the period the Supai Motel does have a pretty cool sign using both neon and incandescent lights to help get your attention, especially at night. The sign in the office window mentions free Hi-Speed Internet Direct, direct dial phones, and in-room Microwaves and Fridges as well as 140 TV channels including HBO and ESPN.

x This is at least the third version of the Supai Motel sign. The previous sign didn't have looped arrow that uses about 370 incandescent light bulbs. The 2013 sign shown above mentions "new" Color T.Vs and is showing a AAA logo. The building is included in the National Register of Historic Places: Seligman Historic District.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
