Osterman's Shell and Grocery

Route 66, Peach Springs, AZ

East < GO > West

Osterman's Shell and Grocery was housed in this 1932 building that is owned by the Hualapai Indians and is now on the National Register of Historic Places. The station was not in operation when these photos were taken in 2013.

x The Hualapai Indians have received a grant to restore the property, which would be nice to see happen. The building is located on the old Route 66 which is the main road through Peach Springs. Oscar Osterman also built a set of long gone tourist court cabins near the station.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
