It's all but impossible to give an idea of just how big the Grand Canyon is, you really need to see it to get the idea. Plan on spending at least the better part of a day here, even if all you do is go from one observation point to the next, spending only a few minutes at each. Shuttle buses make that a lot easier. Hiking makes it a lot slower.

xThe Grand Canyon is located 59 miles north of Williams on Highway 64. Or 81 miles northwest of Flagstaff via Highways 180 and 64. If you have a Disability Sticker or Disabilty License Plate from your state, be sure and ask for a Scenic Drive Accessibility Permit which allows entry for visitors with mobility issues to drive to some areas otherwise closed to public traffic. The permit is available at entrance gates, National Park Service visitor centers and hotel lobbies.

You can take the Grand Canyon Trains which leaves from Williams. They have one daily train each way.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
