The visitor center at the Williams Visitor Center and Grand Canyon Chamber of Commerce has a wide variety of local insight as well as a small gift shop. The friendly staff were very helpful when we visited in 2013. It is at the intersection of Grand Canyon Blvd. and Railroad Avenue. Railroad Ave. is the westbound Route 66 in downtown Williams. This building was originally built by the Santa Fe Railroad in 1901 and was moved to this location in 1914.

x Smokey the bear stands out front with a fire danger sign and and a sign bearing his oft repeated "Only you can prevent forest fires" reminder. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places: Williams Historic Business District

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
