Amtrak Station / Visitor Center

1 E. Route 66, Flagstaff, AZ

East < GO > West

The railroad played a huge part in the establishment and growth of Flagstaff. Today the 1926 Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company depot and Flagstaff Visitor Center stands beside Route 66.

x In between the many freight trains rushing past the depot, it also serves as the Flagstaff Amtrak Station with twice daily passenger trains. An old freight wagon stands next to the parking lot on the west side of the building.

xThe "Fountain of Youth" as this fountain named, seems to have run dry. The plaque reads ...

Fountain
of
Youth

This water is 98.8 pure
from eternal snows of
San Francisco Peaks
in the distance

Greetings
From
Flagstaff

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
