Lumber Building

5 S San Francisco St., Flagstaff, AZ

East < GO > West

The Flagstaff Lumber Company built the original section of this building in 1890. The J. D. Hadstead Lumber Company constructed an addition to the building in 1926. This was a lumber yard until the 1990s.

x This is a popular part of Flagstaff, making it hard to get a good photo of a mural as large as this. The mural was painted by the Mural Mice in 2013. The building is on the corner of San Francisco St. and Phoenix Ave. which is where the pre-1937 alignment of Route 66 turned west.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
