The former Nomad Motel was the Ash Fork Inn when these photos were taken in 2013. It is located on the west end of town between the eastbound (Park Ave.) and westbound (Lewis) Route 66 Avenues.

xWith 26 rooms this was a fairly large motel for a town the size of Ash fork in the 50s and 60s. It was apparently one of a small chain of motels that included motels in Needles, CA and Phoenix, AZ. They offered to make "free" reservations at those two motels, I'm guessing that the free part meant no service charge to make the reservation and no long distance charge for the call.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
