What's left of the County Line Cafe and the abandoned Martin's Motel are located on the south service road just west of I-40, exit 148. This was the 1932-1952 Route 66 alignment of Route 66. In Jack Rittenhouse's 1946 "A Guide Book to Highway 66" he mentions a gas station at about this spot, but not a motel or cafe.

xThe County Line Cafe was closed in the mid 1980s, all that was left standing in 2019 was the sign post and a small section of wall around what was apparently the entrance. The upper sign can said "County Line" and the lower said "Cafe".

xThe small abandoned Martin's Motel still stands just west of the cafe site. It appears to have offered 5 r 6 guest rooms. The end unit with the corner windows was probably the office.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
