1938 Whiting Brothers Gas Station Building

700 E. Highway 66, Shamrock, TX
Phone:

East < GO > West

This 1938 Whiting Brothers gas station was Hotrod Pizza when we snapped this photo in 2017. It is located on the east side of town. During the years they operated the station a neon "Whiting Bros." sign with the company shield at the street end projected out from the tall element in the center of the building.

x This photo is from 2012, the top photo is from 2017 and shows some new murals and signage like many buildings along the Mother Road in Shamrock. A now signless sign post can be seen behind the power pole in this photo. A couple of Route 66 shields were painted on the center tower when this photo was snapped in 2012, but there wasn't any indication of what kind of business was using the building at the time.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
