The Jacobs Standard/Chevron station, gift shop, trailer court was also called Jacobs Trading Post. There were three gas pumps under the edge of that huge canopy. The large sign seen hanging out over the outer drive in the 60s postcard below disappeared sometime between 2008 and 2012 when this photo was snapped.

Jasper Burcham established a Texaco station on this site in 1935 and eventually expanded it to include a gift shop and trailer park. Mrs. Burcham managed the gift shop until the station was leased out in 1963, but Jasper continued to operate the trailer park for some time.

The RV/Trailer Park part of the property apparently continued to operate for years after the station closed. A Camping sign can be seen in the far left of this photo.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
