The old Crockett Texaco is one of several old gas stations on Railroad
Street, most of which were built about the time the street became the
eastbound alignment of Route 66, that was in late 1952 or early 1953.
The Texaco sign is probably from the 1970s. In the background you can
see another of those stations. Emery Crockett also had a Texaco station
at 119 W. First Street that has been at least parially demolished.

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
