This old Whiting Brothers gas station has been pressed into service as the office of the local Justice of the Peace. For international travelers, a JP is a local judge with the power to marry people, settle traffic violations, and hear other local court matters. Get caught speeding in a small town or rural area and you might well meet the local JP in person.

The pump islands are still in place on either side of the column supporting the canopy.
