The Hillcrest Motel started out with 12 rooms and 8 garages in 1950 and later grew to have 18 rooms. The additional rooms were added after W. C. Metcalf bought the motel in 1958 likely came from converting garages to guest units. There were no room phones or televisions at the Grand Opening, and only some rooms even had radios. But the rooms did have air conditioning and Panel Ray heaters. The sign shown in the photo above is at least the third version.

NOTE: It's hard to make your motel stand out when there are 2 or 3 other motel on a block for several blocks in a row so the mention of Pulse-A-Rythm massaging mattresses was a good try. The sign shown on this card is at least the second version.
