East < GO > West

Fran Hauser's Sunflower Station Gift Shop is wonderful place featuring all kinds of cool Route 66 themed items and more. If you are on I-40, get off at exit 22 going east or exit 23 going west. The Sunflower Station is on the old road on the north side of I-40 right across from the "Midpoint of Route 66" sign.

x Out in front is this older Ford truck that has been busy collecting hundreds, maybe thousands of names of happy visitors from around the world. Spend a couple minutes chatting with Fran and it is obvious why so many travelers on the Mother Road want to leave their mark here.

Fran owned and operated the Midpoint Cafe next door for many years, after she sold it she opened the Sunflower Station. She owned the cafe when the movie "Cars" came out and was the inspiration for "Flo" in movie.

xThe midpoint sign is a favorite photo-op for Route 66 travelers.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
