It's been a while since the round Standard Oil signs like the one by this
rock faced 1942 station were in wide use. Note that the columns for the
canopy are also rock faced, a nice touch. But right by the Standard sign
post was something else interesting.
The short square post is a marker for the 1867 Chisholm Trail. The top
sign says "Chisholm Trail" and "Centennial Corridor -
Oklahoma " and the sign in the middle just says "Trail Crossing".
The Chisholmn trail was a route for cattle drives coming up from Texas
to the railheads in Kansas.
