The El Dechado Apartments at 925 W. Main St. in Yukon was built as the Four Star Courts by W. C. Bryan in 1939. It opened with 9 units, each with an adjoining garage and soon became known simply as the Star Courts. The two story section in the NW corner housed theowner/managers apartment. Some newspaper articles of the time refer to the Start Courts as a tourist camp.

According to a listing in the 1949 AAA Tour Book the motel had been expanded to include 16 air-cooled units with private baths and closed garages. Room rates at that time were $3.00 to $6.00.

Like many small motels it seems to have gone through a series of owners, for example, in 1951 it was purchased from J. T. Sailsberry by Burl P. Prim. It was still known as the Star Courts in the early 1960s.

It is located (just east of Garth Brooks Blvd on Route 66 (Main St.).

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
