Toby's Beauty-Rest Court has seen some changes over the years. The original Giraffe style Ozark Sandstone office and owners home out front has been expanded. Early on this was also a Phillips 66 Gas Station. The new addition is on the right in this photo. Toby Young and his wife owned the Court in the mid 1940s while he was working at the two local Douglas Aircraft plants as the recreation director.

The cottages were air conditioned and offered gas fired steam heat and Beautyrest mattresses. There are six units four in duplex style buildings and two in single unit cottages. The cottages are arranged in a semi-circle along side and behind the office.

The cottages offered locked garages. In this duplex cottage the garages were in the low roofed section connecting two cottages. The single unit cottages also had an attaced garage. all the garages have been converted to living space.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
