Meadow Gold Sign

The Meadow Gold Dairy erected this large rooftop sign in 1934 on their buidling at 11th Street & Lewis Ave, about a mile east of here. That building was demolished in 2004, but the sign was saved. The restored sign now sits on this little structure built especially for it. To give a little scale each face of the sign is 30 feet wide and 30 feet tall.

x Each of the plaques on the small podiums tell more related history. The sign now sits proudly at 11th Street and Quaker Ave. Both the old location and this one are on the 1933 alignment of Route 66.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
