Cities Service Station #8

1648 Southwest Boulevard, Tulsa, OK

The original Cities Service Station #8 was built in 1926 without any service bays. The bays were added as a separate builing in 1940 and the in 1950 the old staion was torn down and this one was built connected to the service bays. By 1984 it was in such bad shape that it was considered unsuitable for preservation status. It was later restored in part thanks to a 2009 Route 66 Corridor Preservation Program grant.

Yhey have a pretty big sign out front telling folks what they're looking at.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
