The original Cities Service Station #8 was built in 1926 without any service
bays. The bays were added as a separate builing in 1940 and the in 1950
the old staion was torn down and this one was built connected to the service
bays. By 1984 it was in such bad shape that it was considered unsuitable
for preservation status. It was later restored in part thanks to a 2009
Route 66 Corridor Preservation Program grant.
