This is one of those places you had to get inside of to understand. John Dunning opened this shop in 2001. It was packed full of antiques, including a lot wonderful post cards and maps. The building was formerly a garage here on Western Avenue which was the alternate Route 66 Beltline from 1931-47 running from Britton Road to 23rd Street.

xThe shop closed in 2014 but the vintage Western Trail Motel neon sign was still there a couple years later.

The former Britton Cities Service Station is at 9110 Western on the north side of the Trading Post. Across the street is the former Pat Pugh Ford dealership builing.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
