The former Britton Cities Service Station gas station and garage was an
artists studio when we went by in 2015. This is actually two separate
buildings which makes me think the flat roofed service bay garage building
was added at a later date. The smaller station building on the left was
built in 1947.
The front pump island is still in place in this photo. It looks like
there was a pump island on the north side of the station at one time.
The murals on the garage building are painted on concrete block walls
that replaced the garage doors. The signpost out front just carries
the street number.
This may have been a DX station at some point.

About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
