Miami Gateway Sign

This is a replica of the original 1900's Miami Gateway sign that stood on Central at C Street near the railroad station. That sign was lost to history in the 1930s. Well times change things and one of those changes is how people travel. The train lost the favor of travelers and the automobile picked up the slack, that led the new sign being erected across Main Street. It is just north of the intersection of Main Street and Hwy 10 where the 1926 alignment of the Main Street of America goes south to the Sidewalk Highway and the 1937 re-alignment heads west towards the Riviera Courts.

xThe arch and nearby sign were dedicated in October of 2012.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
