Pioneer JailFoss Park, Broadway (SH44) at 2nd, Foss, OKPhone:
It's hard to imagine today, but this is what often passed for a jail
in the pioneer days in western USA states. This one being fairly spacious,
and tall enough to stand up in was furnished with four folding steel
"bunks". Not a lot of room for pacing back and forth while
awaiting justice, especially if your cellmates are sleeping.

The
little jail carries a tag saying it was built by the Pauly Jail Building
Co. of St. Louis, MO. These guys started building jails in 1856 and
they are still in the jail equipment building business today.

Did
You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
