This building started out as the 1878 one room school. At different times over the years it served as a chapel and the home of the Indian Scout Ben Clark. They're not done restoring buildings here and this one was waiting for its turn when we visited in 2013.

xThe two brick wings shown in this photo were added in the 1880s. They were reportedly poorly constructed and might be removed during restoration.

xThese photos are a few years old now having been snapped in 2013. The plan is, or at least was, to restore this building to its original configuration as a one room school. This photo clearly shows the part of the building that would include, I'm guessing the porch enclosure would be gone but the porch roof and fllor might remain. Hopefully some progress has been made on the restoration of this building.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
