Marshall Chevrolet was originally the El Reno Motor Company a Buick, Hudson and Dodge dealership which was formed in 1916 by O. Von Marveldt, W. B. Stafford and W. H. Carpenter. Chevrolet was added to the line up of cars offered in 1923.

By the time B. T. Marshall and W. T. Zimmerman became the owners of the business in late 1924 all but the Chevrolet line of cars had been picked up by other dealers. Marshall and Zimmerman built this building and moved their Chevrolet dealership into it in 1929.

Marshall bought out Zimmerman's interest in the business in 1934, but kept the old El Reno Motor Company name. When B. T. Marshall's son W. L. Marshall became a partner in the business in 1947 the name was changed to Marshall Chevrolet. By 1959 the business had apparently been sold and became known as Fraser-Parker Chevrolet and in 1960 it was sold again and became Howe Chevrolet. By late 1972 the dealership had moved to a location closer to I-40.

The building eventually served as home to a couple of appliance stores before being sold to the El Reno Tribune Newspaper in 2011.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
