This mural protrays the National Guard Unit waiting for a train to take them to summer camp and they and the townsfolk had a great time. Around the street scene are the six churches that were in existence here in 1910. This mural was completed in 2013 by Dr Robert Palmer and some of his students from the University of Central Oklahoma.

The murals of an additional four churches in town were done at a later date. The murals are located on the north side of the former Glenn Nichols Store Building.

Funds for these murals is raised by the Davenport community and chamber of commerce.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
