The former Ray's Motel features an art deco style. The guest rooms wrap around the edge of the property in an L shape. In 1941 this was Miller's Service Station, Miller was Ray's last name. For many years you could get a nights rest here and fill your tank with Phillips 66 gas. The motel seems to have more or less switched to renting efficiency apartments rather than the tourist lodging business.

x This photo shows the guest room wing on Opal Ave.. The address is on 8th street but the building faces Opal Ave. Between the shrubs and fences you can't get a very good view of the guest room building courtyard.

x This is a peek at the guest room wing where it faces 8th St. Ray's was part of a preservation project during the 2007 International Route 66 Festival in Clifton during which the paint was scraped and the building repainted.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
