Pow Wow Inn & Lizard Lounge
801 W. Route 66, Tucumcari, NM
Phone:
Having inherited her late fathers 9 unit Lins Motor Court Bettie Ditto
arrived in Tucumcari in 1955 with her children in tow. In 1959 she expanded
the old motor court, which she had renamed the Lazy L Motel into the Congress
Inn by adding 30 rooms and a restaurant. The motel eventually grew into
the 92 unit Best Western Pow Wow Inn, Restaurant and and Lizard Lounge.
The complex was spread over several building. By 2015 it appears that
the Best Western affilation had ended.

Note: This postcard is probably from a second expansion because
it lists 50 rooms, but the very early 1960s because they were still
using a 3 digit phone number. The "Magic Fingers" was a massaging
(more like simple vibrating) attachment with a coin operated control
box into which you placed a quarter or two for a few minutes of use.
