Smith's Cafe dates back to the 1930s and what is left of the place is located next to a former motel. Both are on Main Avenue right in the middle of a row of former garages and gas stations. Main Avenue was the 1926 to 1952 alignment of Route 66 in San Jon.

The lettering on the four piece sign on the post is almost impossible to read, but it's still there.
