The Western Motel is from the 1930s, but all that is left is a couple small cottages, a foundation slab and a weathered sign and the "office. That's the tiny little building on the right in this photo.

x The bright white bits and pieces of broken neon tubing stands out starkly from the worn and rusted sign can. The painted word motel is barely visible on the lower half of the sign.

xI'm not sure, but I suspect that the building on the right was a cabin that has been added onto. That's a 1963 Plymouth parked in front of the office. The building behind the sign appears to be a duplex cottage.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
