The Sunset Motel has been around since 1959 when Bill and Elaine Pogue started building it. The motel grew over the years as several more guest rooms were added. In 2018 it was still in the same family with the Pogue's son and daughter in law as owners and operators.

The sunset on the sign is an indicator of where the name for the motel came from.
