South West Motel
1000 E. Santa Fe Ave., Grants, NM
Phone: 505-287-2935
Towards the east end of old Route 66 in Grants the 1950s 24 unit Lariat
Lodge lives on as the South West Motel. In between it operated as the
Southwest Lodge for awhile.
In
today's cellphone world the sign on the building still notes that they
offer "D D Phones" most likely meaning "direct dial phones"
in the rooms, a throwback to the time when motels and hotels transitioned
away from having the front desk or switchboard staff assist with every
outgoing call.
