The Grants Cafe stood at 932 E. Santa Fe Ave. since 1949. It had a very cool neon sign. The cafe is long gone and as of summer 2019 even the sign disappeared.

Zeon Signs of Albuquerque built the sign in 1958, but in 1998 it was blown down in a storm. The sign was renovated as part of the 2009 New Mexico Route 66 Neon Sign Restoration Project. "Grants", "Cafe" and the arrow are lit with neon, the arrow having four rows of neon tubing. Like in many towns along the Mother Road bright neon signs lit the night and guided the way on Route 66.

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
