The 1912 Palace Hotel building, built by the Morello brothers, was rehabbed in 1985 and currently houses the Richardsons Trading Company. Originally the hotel was on the second floor with a saloon was on the ground floor.

The building is constructed of locally quarried sandstone. The two arches on the corner used to be open to allow access to a recessed diagonal entrance. The second floor is currently is accessed through a single door at the south end of the third street side of the building. This is the only Richardsonian Romanesque style building in Gallup.

The building is listed on Gallup's Historic Tour and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988,

x About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more
xDid You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
