The 66 Diner is located at 1405 Central Ave NE. It was formerly Sam's
66 Service Station built in the 1940s in the Art Deco style. The 66 Diner
opened here in mid-1987. In the spring of 1995 it burned and was quickly
rebuilt and reopened by February of 1996. From the counter seating up
front to the large dining rooms in back the Route 66 influence is evident
everywhere. Bring your hungries though, because portion sizes were huge
and at a great price when we were there.

About Us We started traveling Historic U.S. Route 66 as a destination in 2009. It's like a 2,400 mile long drive back in time from Chicago to Santa Monica! more

You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane
road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned
lanes are still there.
