The La Hacienda Motel used the slogan "On top of the west mesa where it is Cool, Comfortable and Quiet" in early advertising. . The motel opened with 18 units and a sunken garden. They also promoted it as "A Bit of Old Mexico". In 1955 it expanded to 21 units. It now has weekly/monthly units with kitchenettes.

Did You Know: Many parts of the old 4 lane Route 66 were reverted to a 2 lane road after 66 was realigned to the interstate. In many places the abandoned lanes are still there.
